Two problems: 1) Thus far all the President's substantive proposals deal with health *insurance*, not health *care*; 2) he is not reforming it, but merely expanding it. Mr. Obama is right that our existing healthcare system is unsustainable and will either bankrupt us or require severe cutbacks in service. If that is so, why does he propose to expand it instead of actually reforming it? The answer is that the system stinks. There is no way to reform it except through draconian, authoritarian measures that the special interests (caregivers, drug firms, insurers, hospitals, medical device companies) would never in a million years allow. The system is so heavily myth-laden, only a complete overhaul would have any effect.
